You may take the course to get a point reduction once within 12 months. This is the same whether you have been court-ordered or not.

If you are taking this traffic school response to a court order, you will not be eligible for a point reduction as this is in lieu of points. If you are taking this course because you have at least 3 points and no more than 11 points on your license, upon successful completion you are eligible for a 3-point deduction of demerit points.

You can take this traffic school course if:

  • You received a letter from the Nevada DMV advising that by successfully completing a traffic safety school course, you are entitled to remove 3 points from your driving record because you have a minimum of 3 points and no more than 11 points.
  • You were ordered by the courts
  • If a plea bargain is reached with the courts that allows for completion of a traffic safety course in lieu of receiving demerit points.

When you attend traffic safety school voluntarily as opposed to a court order, completion of a traffic safety course removes 3 demerit points from your driving record. A conviction will stay on your driving history for a minimum of 3 years.

If you have received three or more violations within the past 12 months, you are eligible for the 8-hour course. If you have received two or less violations within the past 12 months, you are eligible to take the 5-hour course.

Due to Nevada state requirements, the minimum amount of time required to complete the 5-hour course is 5 hours and the minimum amount of time required to complete the 8-hour course is 8 hours. Our automated system keeps track of the time spent on the course and will advise when time requirements have not been met where applicable.

No. You can log on and off as needed. Our automated computer system will keep track of your progress so that when you login it will return you to where you had logged out.

Once you have successfully completed the course and passed the final exam, we will report course completion by submission of form DS-305 to the Nevada DMV within 30 days. You will be sent a course completion certificate through first class mail. Once you receive this certificate, it is your responsibility to report completion of the course by presenting the completion certificate to the county court where you received the ticket.
